The DrosAfrica-ICGEB Workshop on Drosophila melanogaster in African Biomedical Research will be held Sept. 17-19, 2019, in Ibadan Nigerai. The meeting brings together the newly formed African Society of Drosophilists (ASD) and DrosAfrica, and serves as the first meeting of the ASD. More information on the conference website.

From the meeting organizers: "The First Conference of the African Society of Drosophilists will be held September 17–19, 2019, at the Conference centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. The conference is jointly organised by the Society of Drosophilists, Nigeria and DrosAfrica and sponsored by ICGEB, the Company of Biologists and DMC2-CABD, MdM Unit of Excelence. The meeting will serve as a gathering of researchers with common interest in the promotion of Drosophila melanogaster as a powerful, yet cost-effectove, model system in Biomedical Research. It hopes to attract interested scientists from all over the continent of Africa. We are also pleased to announce that a pre-conference workshop on Drosophila model for Biomedical Research will take place two days before the conference proper.
