Flies Continue to Contribute to Gene Identification for Previously Undiagnosed Cases

Drosophila research has again contributed to uncovering the genetic cause for a rare disease. Work from the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) Model Organism Screening Center, which is led by fly biologist Hugo Bellen at Balyor College of Medicine, was recently published a study in the American Journal of Human Genetics:  Marcogliese et al. "IRF2BPL Is Associated with Neurological Phenotypes.". Baylor College of Medicine published an announcement in July 26, 2018. Additional coverage appears from Texas Children's Hospital.
