 

#  From fruit fly study to clinical trials: potential lung cancer treatment advances to clinical trials

Paul Taylor ([University of Leeds](https://physicalsciences.leeds.ac.uk/staff/210/professor-paul-taylor)) announced [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/PaulfrYorkshire/status/1048324721752850432) on Oct. 5, 2018 that a drug identified "thanks to fruit flies" is now in clinical trials as a potential treatment for lung cancer. A *Drosophila* chemical genomics research study in which the compound was identified was published in 2017 in *Cancer Letters* and can be viewed [here](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0304383517300848).
