An [article by Kimberly Splinter and colleagues](https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1714458) from the [Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN)](https://commonfund.nih.gov/diseases) appearing in the *New England Journal of Medicine* includes a discussion the impact of the [Model Organisms Screening Center](https://undiagnosed.hms.harvard.edu/research/model-organisms-phase-ii/), which uses Drosophila and other model organisms, in contributing to disease diagnosis. Through the UDN MOSC, biologists and physicians are teaming up to leverage the information-rich literature and wide array of genetic tools available for model organisms research to help identify disease-causing variants in patients enrolled in the UDN program. Free access to the article is available [at the NEJM website](https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1714458).
