Personalized Medicine & the Fly -- The Scientist reports on a study by Cagan and colleagues

A News & Opinion article by R. Williams in The Scientist, "Genetically Personalized Fruit Flies Screen for Cancer Drugs," reports on a new study from R. Cagan, E. Bangi, and colleagues that reports engineering of a fruit fly with mutations parallel to what was found in a cancer patient, testing of the mutant flies with various drugs, and treatment of the patient with a drug combination identified as effective using the fly model. Drosophila biologists T. Su and N. Perrimon are among those who comment on the study. The original research article appears in Science Advances.
