A News & Opinion article by R. Williams in *The Scientist*, "[Genetically Personalized Fruit Flies Screen for Cancer Drugs](https://www.the-scientist.com/news-opinion/genetically-personalized-fruit-flies-screen-for-cancer-drugs-65921)," reports on a new study from R. Cagan, E. Bangi, and colleagues that reports engineering of a fruit fly with mutations parallel to what was found in a cancer patient, testing of the mutant flies with various drugs, and treatment of the patient with a drug combination identified as effective using the fly model. Drosophila biologists T. Su and N. Perrimon are among those who comment on the study. The original research article appears in *[Science Advances](https://advances.sciencemag.org/content/5/5/eaav6528)*.
