#  Several Drosophila researchers elected to US National Academy of Sciences

Several members of the *Drosophila* research community were [recently elected as members or foreign associates of the US National Academy of Sciences](http://www.nasonline.org/news-and-multimedia/news/May-1-2018-NAS-Election.html), including Gines Morata, Haifan Lin, Sarah Elgin, Claude Desplan, and Utpal Banerjee.
