# Student-accessible protocol for looking at 60 (60!) different fly behaviors

July 25, 2017

In a paper published by the *Journal of Undergraduate Neuroscience Education*, McKellar and Wyttenbach present a lesson plan for hands-on behavior tests by students ([PMC5480838](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5480838/)). The authors report that "in our experience, students are fascinated and highly engaged by watching animals perform such a broad array of behaviors."

The article links to a YouTube video resource, [The McKellar Videos](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2D0slyugueK6E9UKPqfe-fdQbiVHnlCz), that show flies exhibiting various behaviors.

 Looks like a great resource!

The videos include "heading nodding yes" and "head shaking no" along with abdominal curling, grooming, and other activities or postures.
