An article by *Drosophila* researcher Thomas Merritt ([Laurentian University](https://laurentian.ca/dr-thomas-merritt)) was recently published in the *Washington Post,* "Here’s how you can get rid of fruit flies, and why scientists are so fond of them." Read it [here](https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/heres-how-you-can-get-rid-of-fruit-flies-and-why-scientists-are-so-fond-of-them/2017/08/18/c732a8ea-81e4-11e7-902a-2a9f2d808496_story.html?utm_term=.a643853e1e49). Merritt includes a brief discussion of where flies go in the cold winter months. A great article to pass along to non-experts!
